Ladies and gentleman Drunken_F00l presents the TF2 items backpack viewer. The man that brought you the idler program has done it again! Not only can you farm for hats with his program you can check out your friends backpacks. If you’ve been wondering what so-and-so has in their pack you won’t have to wonder any longer. Invade everyone’s privacy and start looking up what people have in their bags.
What makes this such a great website? Well aside from how awesome it is to spy on all your friends, you can now see what people have to trade. This is assuming that Valve will in fact implement TF2 item trading sometime in the near future. This means you don’t have to be friends with someone to trade with them in the future. This will be great for people trying to get all their items. Great work Drunken!
Today is the TF2 Classless Update Day 2! We get to see 3 (sort of) new maps! These three maps were made for the new game mode King of the Hill (KOTH). There will be KOTH Viaduct, KOTH Nucleus and KOTH Sawmill. Personally I could have done without Sawmill being remade into a KOTH map but.. I guess we’ll see how that goes!
So I know you’re all sitting there wondering “What’s this new King of the Hill thing?”. Well to answer that question I’ll let the TF2 team do it:
King of the Hill (KotH) is an intense new game mode focused around a single central capture point that must be defended for three minutes. Gameplay begins with the point initially locked—after a short time, it will open for capture by either team. Once the point is captured by a team, their team clock will start a three minute countdown. If the enemy team manages to capture the point back, their clock will start counting down while the other team’s clock freezes at the time the point was recaptured.
Even though two of these maps are simply remade to fit the new game mode, one is completely new and deserves an explanation. So again I will let the TF2 team do that for me:
Viaduct is an all-new map especially built for KotH, set outside of the entrance to a secret underground base. Viaduct is also the first Team Fortress map to take place during a snowfall. Both teams start at the base of a low hill, and will have to climb to get to the capture point at the hill’s peak. The various elevations of the map and multiple routes to the central point guarantee some frenzied battles as the point changes hands during gameplay.

It’s that time again ladies and gentleman! Team Fortress 2 updates are back. All those hats you HAVEN’T been finding just might turn into more hats you’re not going to get! Well, we hope hope that’s not the case anyway. Valve is releasing eighteen new hats, since they seem to be such a popular item this is not a surprise.
The TF2 team has released photos of some of the new upcoming hats in this update. It seems they’ve listened to the players and are going to give the Pyro his freakin’ fire hat.
Also, there will be a new map coming. Arena Offblast looks like a mix between Nucleus and Badlands. You can bet they’ll have plenty more to come in the next six days. Here’s a peek at some hidden pages:

After only a week of players constantly complaining about the new update system Valve has decided to allow Spy and Sniper classes the chance to do achievements to unlock their weapons.
Now it’s time to get on the ball and get those achievements done! We will be offering an update to our guide tonight with the new Sniper and Spy content. We’ll tell you which achievements to go for and the best way to do them.
Here’s the offical update notes from Valve:
Team Fortress 2 Update Released
May 29, 2009, 4:30 pm – Valve – Product Update
Updates to Team Fortress 2 have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:
Team Fortress 2
- Added Sniper/Spy milestone achievements as an additional way players can get the new unlockables
- Arena Mode
- Added tf_arena_use_queue server convar. Turn this on to get the old queue behavior. Default is off
- Added tf_arena_round_time to set a timelimit on the round
- Added the userid of the player who built the teleporter to the “player_teleported” event
- Fixed player killed event causing server crash
- Fixed Spies not being telefragged when standing on an enemy teleporter exit with the Dead Ringer enabled
- Fixed attackers seeing the mini-crit particle effect for full crits if the victim has the Jarate effect enabled
- Fixed the Ambassador not doing damage to buildings
- Fixed Spies disguised as their own team not drawing blood effects
- Fixed players killed by flaming arrows not showing the appropriate death icon
Since the update there’s been so much confusion it’s hard to figure out what’s possible and what’s not. Today is the one week marker for the update and plenty has changed since its release. We’ve had a few patches to make fixes and other things that needed to be put into place.
Some of the things we’ve learned about the Sniper:
- The Huntsman’s arrows can be lit on fire by friendly Pyros to make flaming arrows.
- The Razorback is great on maps where you’re not going to be close to your other teammates.
- Jarate, while gross, is a great team weapon.
- The accuracy of the Huntsman isn’t exactly what we had expected.
Here are some of the things we’ve learned about the Spy:
- The Dead Ringer is a great situational tool. Not having full cloak makes you have to work harder to get those kills.
- The Dead Ringer was changed so that you lose all cloak even if you come out early, so use all 8 seconds.
- The Cloak and Dagger is the more popular item unlock for the Spy. This baby pretty much gives you full stealth all the time. I feel it gives people too much of a comfort zone and not take as many chances. Most people would rather stay in stealth the whole map, when you don’t have to.
- The Ambassador is a great weapon for those people who like to take one shot kills. If you’re good enough with it you can headshot just about anyone from anywhere. On the downside, that one shot had better put your target down.
A lot of things that have been done to the game have really made people upset. Veteran players in particular feel as if they’re being treated unfairly. Those of us that already have all the previous weapons don’t need or want copies of what we already have. We want Valve to make is so that we either get a shot at the hats or the newer weapons.
With the addition of the hats we can only wonder what other things they intend on implementing into the game. With four classes left to update there’s potential for a lot of changes. One thing is for certain, when the last update is released things will have changed just as much as they have since vanilla TF2.
Well it seems that we were very wrong. We assumed that Valve had tricked us by making us believe it was the Sniper update when it was really the Spy update.
Apparently we’re going to get the Sniper AND the Spy update tomorrow. So we’ve now seen all of the Spy gear and today bring the last of the Sniper gear.
Recapping the Spy’s gear, we know that he’ll recieve The “Dead Ringer” Spy Watch, The “Cloak and Dagger” Spy Watch and The Ambassador.
The Sniper is going to recieve The Huntsman, The Razorback and now The Jarate. The Jarate was todays release for the Sniper.
One of the most disturbing items so far in TF2, the Jarate will extinguish flame, pull enemy Spies out of cloak and cause enemies to take 35% more damage.
Valve seems to have taken some inspiration for the Sniper update from MMORPG’s. He’ll get a bow, a shield and an item that makes people take more damage. That sounds a lot like an MMORPG to me. Regardless we’ll see how this all plays out.
Here’s a list of the Sniper achievements:
Today should be the day that the update is coming, but for some reason Valve has decided to push it back until Thursday. Either the patch just isn’t ready or they’ve got a lot more content they are going to be bringing out with this update. It could also be that they gave two days of a fake Sniper update and they’re making it up by adding two more days before the release. Regardless the patch should be here on Thursday.
Today brings the release of The Ambassador. This is going to be the Spies new revolver and second hand man in a fight. Anyone who’s ever attempted to backstab someone who’s turning around knows that the revolver is a great way to finish the job.
Not only does this thing look pretty it’s also highly lethal. It doesn’t say “Put two wheels on this thing and it’s a cannon” for nothing. With this much firepower it’s going to most likely have a pretty big cool down.
What I wouldn’t be surprised about is if you can get a headshot / instant kill with this puppy. The description says that it has the accuracy of a sniper rifle. I’m willing to bet the amount of power it’s packing you’ll be able to remove your enemies head from his spine.
Check out the picture of this beauty:
Don’t forget to check out our two new TF2 Guides; TF2 Achievement Guide and TF2 Class Guide. If you get the achievement guide today you’ll get the Spy content a few hours after the release of the patch.
Today brings a sad and yet funny day. Valve intended on releasing their Meet the Spy video today as the official Spy Update of the day before its release tomorrow.
Sadly someone from their department failed to make the video private and waiting sharks snagged it up. So Meet the Spy was leaked on Saturday but today is it’s official release. So in honor of its release we shall post it again for your viewing enjoyment.
The video was not the only thing released today though. They have officially released the icons and names of the achievements for the Spy. Don’t forget to check in tomorrow as we will be updating our LiTi-4 Weapon Unlock Achievement Guide. We’ll have a guide to get all the weapons for the Spy tomorrow.
So enough talk about the achievements, let’s see them! Here’s all 34 Spy achievements:
